STEPS TO GEO-ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES

1. Preliminary Risk Assessment

Following the guidance in Land Contamination Risk Management, we produce comprehensive preliminary risk assessments (PRA), including desk studies (often referred to as Phase 1 reports). These assessments help us understand the history and current status of a site, allowing us to develop a conceptual site model. This process is critical for supporting planning applications, discharging duties of care where no regulatory body is involved, and assisting with understanding environmental liabilities associated with a site.

2. Intrusive Ground Investigation

When a site requires sampling and testing for planning or Building Control, to assist with waste assessment, or to further investigate risks identified by a PRA (produced by us or a third party), our geo-environmental staff will design a ground investigation that aligns with your objectives. Our geo-environmental ground investigations use low disturbance techniques such as rapid assessment site workover wind sampling and using excavator-dug trial pits. We also undertake cable percussion and rotary drilled boreholes, adhering to the required sampling and analysis for geotechnical assessment. Our team is proficient in installing gas, vapour, and groundwater monitoring standpipes. Our site technicians understand the best methods for obtaining representative groundwater samples, ensuring accurate and reliable data for further analysis.

3. Geo-Environmental Laboratory Testing

Our site engineers are highly trained in geo-environmental investigation and sampling, ensuring that representative samples are taken and submitted to our contamination testing laboratory following best practices. Our geo-environmental staff can schedule laboratory testing to meet specific project requirements. We maintain a strong working relationship with an excellent laboratory that tests for an extensive range of contaminants. Samples can also be submitted for stand-alone testing, either collected by our engineering staff or provided to us.
